■34.助動詞の慣用表現① Shall～?


① Shall I open the window?　　　　

② Shall we go to the park?

 

助動詞の疑問形には慣用表現としておぼえておきたいかたちがあり，会話ではひじょうによく使われます。


■Shall I～?： 私が～しましょうか（申し出）

① Shall I  　　　open the window?　 　  Yes， please./　 No， thank you.
　　私が～しましょうか？　　　　 窓を開ける　　　　 　　　　　　     はい，お願いします　　　 いいえ，結構です


■Shall we～?： 私たちみんなで～しましょうか（勧誘）

② Shall we   　　　　go to the park?   　Yes， let's./ 　　No， let's not.　　　　　　　　　　
　　私たちみんなで～しましょうか？　　 公園へ行く 　　　　　　　 はい，そうしましょう　　　 いいえ，やめましょう

POINT Shall we～? は，Let's～の命令文とほぼ同じ意味になります。

② Shall we go out for a walk?  No, let's not.

③ When shall we tell your uncle about our engagement※1?　　　　

④ My son shall carry this bag for you.

⑤ After that you shall have lots of time to play video games.

⑥ Passengers※2 shall not converse※3 with the driver while the bus is in motion.

※1婚約 ※2乗客 ※3話しかける

私があなたに電話しましょうか？　あとで再び 　　　　 　はい，お願いします

※Shall I～?：私が～しましょうか（申し出）


② Shall we go out 　　　for a walk? 　  No， let's not.

（私たちみんなで） 行きませんか？　散歩に　  　　 　 いいえ，やめましょう


③ When shall we tell 　　your uncle 　　about our engagement?

いつ（私たちは）話しましょうか?　あなたのおじさんに　　　私たちの婚約について

※②③ Shall we～?：私たち（みんなで）～しましょうか（勧誘）

 

■shallは，I・we以外を主語にして話し手の意思を表すこともあります。

④ My son shall carry 　 this bag  　　for you.

（私が）息子に運ばせます 　　   このカバンを　　  あなたのために


⑤ After that you shall have lots of time 　 to play video games.

このあと（私は）君に時間をたっぷりあげよう　         　　　　    テレビゲームをするための


⑥ Passengers shall not converse  　with the driver  　while the bus is in motion.

乗客は話しかけてはいけません　       　　　　　　　　　        運転手に    　　　          バスが動いているあいだ
