■動詞+ingは「~すること」という意味のひとまとまりの名詞のはたらきをします。

彼の唯一の欠点は 遅く起きること(だ) 朝に
※getting~は名詞のはたらきをし,be動詞の補語になっています。
POINT ~ingは基本的にふつうの名詞と同じように使われ,主語や補語,目的語などになります。Unit01で学んだto~(不定詞の名詞的用法)と使われ方は同じです。
注意 ~ingはふつうの名詞のように前置詞のあとにもおかれますが,to~はおかれません。
